PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Last week saw a working group visit the school to discuss the upcoming redevelopment. I was able to show the visitors around the classrooms and they were so impressed with the behaviour, attitude, and friendliness of our students. I then had the opportunity to address the working committee on the amazing opportunities the new redevelopment will provide to our school community once it is completed. I look forward to being able to announce a start date in the near future.
We love to celebrate the achievements of current and past students here at Exeter High School. Year 10 student Avery Thomas has been selected to participate in an AFL Multicultural Academy Program, where he will learn about personal leadership and development, football skills, culture, and wellbeing. Avery has also been selected to compete in the Australian Track and Field Championships in the Under 19 Decathlon event. These are both amazing opportunities and we look forward to hearing about Avery’s experiences when he returns. Lucy Cooper, a former student, has been selected in the 2023 Women’s Australian Indoor Hockey squad. We will update everyone on Lucy’s progress as it comes to hand.
We have been providing students with fresh fruit this year and they have been really appreciating this at break times. I would like to thank the Deviot Community Garden members who kindly donated some amazing Gravenstein apples to us last week. These were eagerly consumed and much appreciated. A reminder that we have the food pantry in the office foyer for families to access non-perishable items such as pastas, soups, and muesli bars.
The past week has seen Autumn arrive and with it, some colder days. Please contact the school should you need some financial assistance in buying warmer uniform items in the coming weeks as we are more than happy to help families wherever possible.
