PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

This week saw us conduct our annual Athletics Carnival at Windsor Park on Tuesday. I was so impressed with the participation rates and especially the behaviour and conduct of our students. It was a most enjoyable day for all involved, with several records also being broken across a range of events.

We are already nearly halfway through the term, and I cannot stress enough how busy the remaining weeks will be, especially for our Year 10 students. Launceston College had their enrolment day here last week and they are really looking forward to working with our students next year as they were so impressed with those that they meet during this process. A big thank you to Mrs Parish and the Year 10 team for having all our students so well prepared for this session.

Our Year 11/12 program is looking at expanding in 2023 with enrolments coming from students already here at Exeter High School and from schools within the Launceston area. This is a credit to the program that Mr Fox, Mrs Hall-Dadson and Mr Finnigan have developed, and we look forward to welcoming these students next year. Our current Year 12 students are in the midst of their exams as I write this newsletter and we wish them all the best with their results and their endeavours in 2023. They have been an amazing group to have as our inaugural Year 11/12 cohort.

EHS ATHLETICS CARNIVAL 2022

A massive one-day carnival was held at Windsor Park on Tuesday 8th November in an attempt to condense the essential events of our annual athletics carnival. We were fortunate to have magical weather, however there were some very weary students (and staff) by the end of the day. A huge congratulations to all those students who participated in such good spirit, encouraging their peers to do their best or excel in toppling records. It was certainly perfect conditions for record breaking efforts, and incredibly a total of 8 records fell. Avery set new records in the Grade 9 Boys 100m, Triple Jump, Javelin and Discus, and Chloe, Zayne, Shania and Daniel broke the Year 10 records in javelin, high jump, shot put and javelin.

Our track and field champions, runners-up and record breakers will be presented with certificates at our whole school assembly in Week 7.

Congratulations to OONAH who once again were the winners. Final results were:

INTER-HIGH SWIMMING CARNIVAL

On Thursday 27th October a small team of 19 students headed to the Launceston Aquatic Centre to compete in the Division 1 Inter-high Swimming Carnival. Despite having reduced numbers this year, Team Exeter proved to be competitive in several individual and relay events and finished in fourth place overall.

Our students proudly represented Exeter High School and it was tremendous to have so many students who willingly took on additional events, often competing in a higher year group. We would also like to thank the parents and family members who attended the carnival to support and encourage the team.

There were some excellent results on the day, with Exeter claiming podium finishes in twenty of the scheduled races. A special congratulations to Aidan who won six individual events and Edward who claimed two individual wins. It was also fantastic to see the Year 10 Boys 4 x 50m freestyle relay finally be victorious after four attempts with the same team members of Aidan, Ben, Dylan and Edward.
