PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
I am pleased to report that students have settled in well to their learning for this very busy and important Term 4 of 2022. As I visit classrooms, students are focused, and their learning environments are calm and conducive to maximised learning outcomes. Our yard is also very settled during break times, and this is also a very positive reflection on our school community.
Our Year 10 students are continuing with their transition to colleges, extension schools or apprenticeships for 2023 with many participating in their enrolment processes for Newstead College this week. Staff from Newstead College commented on how well prepared our students were for their enrolment sessions on Wednesday and this is a credit to the students, their parents and the Year 10 staff who have worked hard to prepare our student cohort to be successful in whatever endeavour they choose for 2023.
We have had significant intertest in our Rural Operations course for Year 11 students in 2023 from both students here and from other high schools and this has been fantastic to see. We look forward to welcoming students to Exeter High who have attended other high schools for Years 7-10 and also continuing to support and engage those Exeter High students who are choosing to remain here for their Year 11 studies. I am very proud of the Year 11/12 courses that we offer here and want to thank Mr Fox once again, Mrs Hall-Dadson and Mr Finnigan for their ongoing work in this space.
Our Athletics carnival will be held in week 4 at Windsor Park and parents/carers are welcome to attend this event. It will be held on November 8 and 9 which are the Tuesday and Wednesday immediately after the November Long Weekend. Thank you to our Health and Physical Education staff for organising this event. We will have photographs and a report from the carnival in future newsletters.

EXCELLENCE AT EXETER
These certificates are awarded to two students in each grade in recognition of their efforts in upholding the school values and helping to make our school an excellent learning environment.
Congratulations to this fortnight’s students:
Faith from 7B: Faith is a friendly and respectful student. She has shown a noticeable improvement in her application and effort across all subject areas. Faith is to be commended on her conscientious approach and intent to finish the year strongly.
Charlotte from 7C: Charlotte is a quiet achiever who consistently upholds our school values. She applies herself conscientiously to all tasks and consistently meets deadlines for task completion. Charlotte is a kind, reliable and respectful student.
Charlie from 8C: Charlie is being recognised for upholding all four core values, but in particular, for his maturity. He is a valued class member who consistently uses his time productively across all learning areas. Charlie is encouraged to involve himself in a wider range of extra-curricular opportunities to ensure he capitalises on his time at Exeter High School.
Eva from 8B: Eva is an approachable and mature student who has successfully navigated her Year 8 studies. She is well-prepared for classes and is a reliable and capable worker, both independently and in group tasks. Eva is encouraged to involve herself in more extra-curricular opportunities to ensure she capitalizes on her time at Exeter High School.
Tahlia from 9B: Tahlia demonstrated maturity and acceptance during the year 9 leadership day. She has been applying herself in core classes and approaching learning tasks with a positive attitude.
Ethan from 9C: Ethan is polite student who has had an excellent start to term 4. He did an outstanding job presenting his speech to his class. Ethan is always respectful in his interactions with teachers and peers.
Cyrus from 10B: It has been terrific to see Cyrus becoming more engaged with education in the second half of the year, with an improved attendance rate fantastic to see. Cyrus is a critical thinker who actively participates in classroom discussions, as well as working effectively across all subject areas. Cyrus has enormous potential in all areas, and we look forward to seeing continued positive growth for the rest of this year and into the future.
Jesse from 10C: Jesse is to be commended for his consistent and positive approach to his work in class. He will attempt all activities, often with impressive results. Another pleasing aspect is Jesse’s willingness to ‘check in’ with teachers to ensure that he is submitting work to the standard required and will seek advise on how to improve his outcomes. Jesse is always willing to help others when needed.
Year 7 Excursion
As part of our science program this year, the Year 7 group will be invited to an excursion to QVMAG/Planetarium on Tuesday 1 November. They will be attending a show From Earth to the Universe and a live tour of the current night sky at the Planetarium as well as an opportunity to explore the exhibits in the museum. The buses will depart from Exeter High School at 9:50am to QVMAG/Planetarium return at the end of the day in time for students to catch school buses home. Students will be required to wear Exeter High School full school uniform. There will be no opportunity to purchase food or drink. All school expectations will apply.
Notes for the day:
- Full school uniform
- Students will need to supply their own packed recess and lunch
Please feel free to contact the school, on 6394 4366, if you have any further questions about the program and activities.
YEAR 9/10 COURTYARD
The year 9/10 courtyard is looking extremely impressive at the moment. Year 10 student Tyler has been very busy with teacher assistant Liz tending to the area. He is very proud of how the bulbs that he planted are looking. Thank you, Tyler, for taking such good care of this area.
