PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
We continue to navigate this term in a very calm and settled manner. Our attendance rates are very pleasing, and it is essential that we maintain these as it is when students have high attendance rates, their learning outcomes are maximised. As always, if you are having any issues with your child attending school, please contact the Grade Leader to discuss options we have. We now have a social worker (Isabel Casey), every Tuesday, Thursday and every second Friday and referrals to Isabel can be made through the Grade leaders.
We always enjoy celebrating the continued successes of our past students and this week I am pleased to announce that Hannah Carr has been selected in the state Under 17 Netball Team and will participate in a Nationals carnival in Hobart in April. Hannah also broke 2 Newstead College fitness testing records recently. These records were also previously held by another former Exeter High Student, Lauren Spencer. Congratulations Hannah, we look forward to hearing about how the Nationals go.
Hannah’s brother Ashley has also been successful in gaining an apprenticeship and his driver’s licence in the past week, two major milestones in any teenager’s life. We also have Riley Adams, Ruben Pei, Lauchlan Ryan, Daniel Jordan and Niall Swain all successfully transitioning into paid employment which has been fantastic to see. All of these boys undertook Work Placements during their time here at Exeter High and I encourage parents to talk to their children about this as a possibility if they are thinking of a particular vocational pathway as this provides students with the opportunity to see if this is really the pathway they want to pursue into their future.
Of course, we also love to acknowledge and celebrate the successes of students here at school as well. Last week, we awarded Excellence at Exeter certificates to the following students in each Grade who have demonstrated the four core values of Maturity, Acceptance, Respect and Learning. Congratulations to the following students:
Grade 7: Willow Deegan and
Isabella Priest
Grade 8: Mia Tatum Welch and Logan Priest
Grade 9: Jessica Butler and Tyler Elford
Dawkins
Grade 10: Teigan Barnes and Shiva Rai
Our School Business Manager, Thomas Mulligan, has been successful in his application to work in at Learning Services for the remainder of Term 1. Congratulations Thomas, we are sure you will be a tremendous asset in your new position. We also welcome Mandy Doyle who will replace Thomas for this period of time, and I look forward to working with Mandy who comes to us with outstanding credentials to fulfill the duties associated with the SBM role.
We are also expecting to start lessons in our new farm building at the end of April which will be such an exciting opportunity for our students. I look forward to seeing classes operating from these new facilities and will be sharing photos in the coming week to celebrate this new classroom setting.

EXETER HIGH SWIMMING TRIALS EVENT
The annual Exeter High School Swimming Trials will be on Wednesday 16th March at the Launceston Aquatic Centre.
Please ensure that you return your required documentation including Major Excursion Consent and Medical Information Form and Aquatics Form to the office promptly. Students will need to be prepared with bathers, towel, plastic bag etc. and wear their Exeter High sports uniform on this day. If students do not have a sports polo, plain blue shorts or track pants, they will be required to wear their normal school uniform. Students must not wear free dress, skins or other non-uniform items.
Students will meet at the school gymnasium at 8.50am for an attendance check, ready to depart EHS at 9.00am. We will travel by bus to the Launceston Aquatic Centre and return to school by 3.00pm. Any students who intend to make their own way to LAC should inform Mrs Robinson before Tuesday 15th March. All students will be transported by bus back to school unless they are collected in person by a parent or guardian before the group departs at 2.15pm.
Points from the individual events will contribute towards championship points and all events, including relays, will go towards house points. Students will be able to access the café at the venue between races, however it is strongly recommended that participants bring their own food, snacks and drinks on the day and do not just rely on the café facility.
