Principal’s Report

It’s that time of year again where we are reminded of what a busy month ahead we have. My most important message to all our students is that you need to make sure that these four weeks count by continuing to apply yourself in every lesson and following our school’s core values of Resect, Learning, Acceptance and Maturity.

Last night saw us hold our annual Exeter High School Arts Night where students displayed and performed their amazing work from the curriculum areas of Drama, Visual Art, Music and Dance. It was a treat for the parents and family members who came along to see the brilliant talent that we have here at Exeter High School. A big congratulations to every student who helped make this evening such a success, along with my gratitude to Mrs Youd, Miss Cartledge, Mrs Parish and Mrs Howie for guiding the performers in preparation for the night.

Our Inter-high athletes also represented the school today and performed admirably against the other Launceston High Schools. This was our largest contingent of athletes for some years and reflects the excellent work our Health and Physical Education staff do preparing our students for these events

Orientation Day will be here on Wednesday 27th of November and this will once again see the Grade 5/6 students from Beaconsfield and Exeter Primary schools attend our school to experience a normal high school day. I look forward to meeting these students on the day and a reminder that there is an Information Session that night at 6.30pm in the school library for all parents.

Many people will no doubt have seen how amazing the school farm is looking and Mr Fox also reports that the lambs are fattening nicely, and students are weighing them at regular intervals as a part of their program.

EHS Athletics Carnival 2019

What a fantastic two days of friendly Inter-house competition at our annual Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th November at Windsor Park. The weather forecast was not particularly welcoming, however we were lucky to persevere through the trying conditions to complete the 2 day program with the exception of the relays. The behaviour, attitude and effort from all those involved was commendable. The competition was close for first and second place over the two days and the decision to abandon the relays, may well have cost Oonah the win…

Congratulations to QUOIBA – the winning house and to all those students who participated for house points. An amazing effort from Brandon Leary in the Year 10 Boys High Jump has resulted in this record being equalled by 3 athletes at 1.70m in 2008, 2010 and 2019. The track and field champions and runners-up will be recognised with medallions and certificates respectively in our next whole school assembly.

A huge thank you to all the staff who assisted with the set-up of equipment and running of events and to the P & F who provided a fantastic BBQ and canteen.
