Acting Principal’s Report
Welcome back to everyone for what will no doubt be a busy and productive term here at Exeter High School. Mr Frerk and Mr Stewart are both taking the first three weeks off on Long Service Leave, whilst we also must congratulate Mr Atkinson on the arrival of his son Bastian. On a sad note, Mrs King has moved to Triabunna District High School and she will be missed by both staff and students. We would like to thank Kendal for her outstanding service during her time here. Good luck with your family’s exciting move Kendal. We also have welcomed Mr Mike Guy to our staff as a Teaching Assistant. I would also like to congratulate Liz Jordan and Jack Upson who have been appointed to permanent Teacher Assistant positions.
As a school, we have developed a set of Schoolwide expectations in relation to learning and behaviour. These have been developed to ensure there is consistency across the school and to maintain the extremely high standards of behaviour and learning that we now expect every day. I have included a copy of these expectations in this newsletter to share with our community the things that we value and expect of our students and staff.
As a school, we are tremendously proud of the behaviour displayed by our students whenever they are representing our school. Last week, we received a call from Michael Bennett who is an umpire with the NHSSA. Michael called to pass on his thoughts about the character, sportsmanship and conduct of our footballers in last week’s game. He has been coaching for some time and was taken aback by EHS’s football team and the way they approached and played their game. He also mentioned that he hopes he has the opportunity to umpire their game again this year. This comes as no surprise as we see these behaviours on a daily basis but it is terrific to see others acknowledging this and no doubt, spreading the word about the awesome students we have here at Exeter High School.

Qkr! App at EHS
We are pleased to announce starting this coming Monday 5th August, the Qkr! App will be available at Exeter High School for student Canteen ordering. The Qkr! App allows student Canteen orders to be placed and paid for via one easy to use App. The App is available for both students and parents to use. There is an instruction sheet included in this week’s newsletter. We are endeavouring to get our uniform on Qkr! as well and further information will follow around this shortly.
Canteen Assistance Required
Are you interested in volunteering in our Canteen?
Our Canteen provides a fantastic service to our students to ensure fresh, nutritious food is available to each and every one of our students. We are seeking more volunteers who would be interested in donating their time to assist in our Canteen. If you are interested, please see the attachment below or phone our Canteen Supervisor on 6394 4366.
A Working with Vulnerable People registration is essential for anyone working in a school as is the case in many organisations such as sports groups. We can provide further information and help in obtaining this registration. We hope to see you soon!
City Park Radio ‘School’s Out’:
Just before the end of Term 2, Grade 9 students Rachel, Eloise and Carrie, returned to City Park Radio to host a second show on ’School’s Out’. The girls offered a range of fabulous music and reports about recent activities including Trivia Night, Cross Country and the upcoming Cambodia Trip. Special guests (Mr Fox, Mr Lendvay and Liam from Grade 9) were invited into the studio and interviewed in relation to the future of Agricultural Science at EHS and the views of present and past students. All this was interspersed with fun trivia facts from the Trivia Night. The interviews were insightful and entertaining and allowed the wider community to gain an insight into the workings of Exeter High School and what it has to offer.
Hosting the radio show was an incredible experience and one we won’t forget. Thank you to everyone who helped with the show, and took time out to listen to us. We’d thoroughly recommend it to others in the future!
