Principal’s Report
It’s hard to believe that it’s already the end of week 8 and nearly the end of another successful year at Exeter High School. Last week saw all of our 2019 Grade 7 students visit us for an orientation day and I look forward to welcoming them on a fulltime basis in the coming year. Thank you to all of the teachers and staff that have made the transition for these students a smooth process.
We also hosted an information evening for these students’ parents last Wednesday night and I was really impressed with the number of parents who attended to find out more about their child’s school. As I said to these parents, the education of every student is a partnership between parents and the school and as always, I encourage parents to contact the school immediately whenever questions or concerns arise.
The term 4 social this year was also an outstanding success with a ‘Where’s Wally?’ theme. I was very impressed with the behaviour of every student throughout the night and the way everyone enjoyed themselves. I look forward to seeing what themes we have next year.

Forestry Tasmania Visits EHS
Forestry Tasmania come and spoke to our Year 9 and 10 students about career opportunities within the forestry. Mr Fox’s Junior Ag class joined the presentation hoping to spark an interest about future careers.
The presenters spoke about the ‘Cadet Forester Program’ which is a pathway into an Australian School Based Apprenticeship in Years 11 and 12 which would see participants graduate with a number of qualifications and set them up for a career with forestry. These qualifications and experiences could take them to various places across the world including New Zealand, South Africa and California. Students are pictured here on a simulator which gave them a taste of what it’s like to operate some of the forestry equipment.

Grade 6 Orientation Day at EHS
On Wednesday 28th November, seventy Grade 6 students from Beaconsfield and Exeter Primary Schools attended an Orientation Day at Exeter High School. Students participated in a ‘normal’ school day consisting of a Physical Education, Science and HASS lessons. Activities were organised and conducted by Grade 9 students at recess and lunchtime. Although everybody seemed nervous to start with, by the end of the day, students were confident and enthusiastic to start Grade 7 in 2019. We would like to thank all the staff (Primary and High School) involved for making this great day happen. We look forward to seeing our 2019 Grade 7 cohort next year.
Grade 8 Science
In Grade 8 Science this term students have been studying Physical science with a focus on the different forms of energy and how energy can be transformed from one form to another. Some of our students have created these fantastic models to accompany the theory component of their assignments, demonstrating their understanding on renewable and non – renewable energy. The models pictured have been created by Justyne Westwood, Liam Older, Nikita Hockey, Rachel Dickson and William Jones
