Principal’s Report
I would like to extend a warm welcome to several students who have either joined us from other schools or returned to Exeter High School this term. I am sure that they will find our school to be a warm and welcoming environment and I look forward to seeing them become valued members of our school community. Parents of these new students have all commented as I have given them a tour of our school about how calm and orderly all of our classrooms are and this is a credit to our wonderful staff and students.
Many of our students participated in the ICAS English Competition and Australian Mathematics Competition last week. These are wonderful opportunities for students to be further challenged in these areas and we look forward to sharing the results with students and our school community in the coming months. Thank you to Mrs Robinson for organising and facilitating this tremendous academic opportunity.
Our senior Drama students had the opportunity to attend the Launceston College production of Jesus Christ Superstar last week and another group has been invited to attend Newstead College’s production of Disenchanted at the Earl Arts Centre next week. I am confident that many of our outstanding Arts students will be featuring in future productions at both colleges. Once again, the behaviour exhibited by our students when representing our school in the wider community was exceptional at Jesus Christ Superstar.

School Satisfaction Surveys - Students, Parents / Carers and Staff
Annual School Satisfaction Surveys for students, parents and staff are being conducted during August 2018 across Tasmanian government schools.
The surveys provide an opportunity for students, parents and staff to give important feedback on what the school does well and where we can improve. Questions cover a range of topics about our school.
All responses are secure and anonymous.
Students, parents and staff are invited to participate.
Participating students are able to complete the survey during school time.
Parents selected to participate in the parent survey will receive a letter in coming days.
We encourage you to complete the survey to give our school a clear direction for future programs and services for students.
Please contact the office if you wish to use a school computer to complete the survey.
2018 Science Fair.
Tuesday 14th August, was a busy day with our annual Exeter High School Science Fair. It is a whole day science event conducted at Exeter High School by year 9 and 10 students to allow primary school students from Exeter Primary School and Beaconsfield Primary School to experience the fun side of science while learning important science concepts of chemistry, physics and biology. The whole of the senior classes from Exeter Primary School and the year 6 students from Beaconsfield Primary participated in a range of hands-on experiment that tested their mental skills and coordination. It is essential to foster a collaborative learning culture between our High school and the two feeder Primary schools in which the primary students are exposed to the workings of a laboratory, see that Science is fun, meet their future teachers and to soften their anxiety in moving to a new school. Well done to the year 9 and 10 students who stepped well and truly out of their comfort zone to welcome and engage every primary school student. A big thanks must also go to Mr Thomas Clark for organising the students from both primary schools and to Mr Arun Pratap for his efforts in putting together and supervising the activities.
