PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
It is hard to believe that we are just moving into Week 5 of Term 4! As usual, there has been lots going on and things will get busier for students and staff as we approach the end of the school year over the coming weeks.
Student Free Day
Last Friday was our Professional Learning Day, where staff worked together analysing Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey data. We looked at positive trends and areas we need to focus on to support student wellbeing. Staff worked in grade teams to determine what the data is telling us, what might this data mean and what do we need to do going into 2025 to build on the work that we do as a school community to ensure that our students have high wellbeing and engagement. Attendance was also discussed, with a focus on how students that do not attend on a regular basis have a lower sense of belonging and satisfaction with life, as they miss out on vital teaching and learning experiences, and opportunities for social interactions with peers. I implore all parents to ensure their child is here in a classroom every day, to maximise their potential to learn and succeed in life.
Athletics Carnival
We held our Athletics Carnival on Wednesday and Thursday this week, and the behaviour, attitude, and participation rate of those in attendance was of a high standard. Thank you to our wonderful HPE staff for organising these two days and to our staff and volunteers who ensured the smooth running of the program over the two days.
Year 10/11 Transition and Year 12 Farewell
Our Year 10 students are nearly halfway through the final term of their high school life. Many of our students are continuing on to further education at either Launceston College or Newstead College, whilst there are also several students who have successfully gained apprenticeships, which is also fantastic to see. We also have students continuing their schooling here in the Year 11 Agricultural program, alongside students from other Launceston schools, as this course continues to grow in popularity. We farewell our Grade 12s and wish them all the best for a successful future.
School Association Bunnings Barbecue
Thank you to the School Association for raising funds for Exeter High School by hosting a Bunnings Barbecue at Bunnings North Launceston last Saturday. A total of over $1600.00 was raised on the day and this money will be used to support our students. We appreciate their efforts and thank all involved for giving up their time on the Long Weekend.
Irene Phelps Art Youth Art Competition
The Irene Phelps Art Youth Art Competition celebrated another successful year with their annual exhibition held in Beaconsfield on Saturday, 26 October. Hosted by the West Tamar Council with support from the Irene Phelp's Charitable Trust, this year’s competition explored the themes of friendship, heroes and nature.
The following Exeter High School students received certificates and prizes in recognition of their exceptional work: Chelsea, Lyn, Arin, Isabell, Oscar and Levi.
Congratulations to all students who entered artworks in the competition. Special thanks to Kim Reynolds at West Tamar Council for her ongoing support of the Exeter High School community, as well as her tireless efforts in bringing the Irene Phelps Competition to life.

YEAR 6 ORIENTATION DAY – Wednesday 20 November
2024 ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
What a fantastic two days of friendly Inter-house competition at our annual Athletics Carnival on Wednesday and Thursday at Launceston Christian School oval. The weather was amazing, despite the strong wind on the first day which caused a bit of havoc with the timing gates. We were also very impressed by the behaviour, attitude and effort from all those involved. There was some fierce competition throughout the two days which culminated in the excitement of the relays, worth double points.
Congratulations to OONAH – the winning house and to all those students who set new records in track and field events below. The track and field champions and runners-up will be recognised with medallions and certificates respectively in our next whole school assembly.
A huge thank you to all the staff who assisted with the set-up of equipment and running of events to ensure that the carnival was a success.
OVERALL RESULTS
1st | OONAH | 2541 points |
2nd | QUOIBA | 2052 points |
3rd | LENAH | 2001 points |
