PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
It was great to meet and greet parents from across the grades at our Welcome Back BBQ on Tuesday night. As I mentioned to parents, relationships between school and parents are crucial to each child’s success. Please make sure you are in touch with us whenever you have queries or concerns.
Our redevelopment commences on 2nd April, and this will see the kitchen areas turned into modern industrial quality workspaces that our students will benefit from. I will keep the community updated as we have further progress and dates for other areas to be renovated.
We have our annual swim trials next Monday, 4th March at the Launceston Aquatic Centre. Parents/carers are welcome to attend and support their children.
The Year 11/12 students had a field day excursion last week and this provided them with an authentic agricultural experience. They reported that they had a great time and learnt a lot.

HIGH SWIMMING TRIALS
On Monday 4th March, Exeter High School will be conducting swimming trials at the Launceston Aquatic Centre in order to select our Inter-high Swimming Team.
Students must be able to swim 25 metres of at least one stroke to attend the trials as the races will be swam over 25m, 50m and 100m distances. Ribbons will be presented to placegetters for the swimming events and new swimming records may be established.
Students will be transported to and from the venue by bus and the trials themselves will be between 9.45- 1.45pm. This will include individual races, lunch break, relays and novelty events. Students are encouraged to bring plenty of healthy snacks and a drink; however, they may be able to access the café between events. Students will be transported back to school by 3.00pm in time to catch their normal buses home.
An approximate schedule for the day is:
9.45am – 10.15am | 50m and 25m Freestyle Grade 10’s -> Grade 7’s |
SAFEGUARDING TRAINING IN OUR SCHOOLS
We all have a role to play in keeping children and young people safe.
This year, there is important training that anyone who works with children or young people must complete. This includes all our volunteers and service providers.
The training is compulsory under new laws designed to better safeguard children and young people in Tasmania.
It will help you understand what to do if you believe a child or young person is or may be being harmed, and to make sure you are doing all you can to prevent this from happening. The training will also tell you what you must report under the new laws.
This simple, online training must be done as soon as possible, and you will need to complete it before you work with any children and young people this year.
Once completed, you will receive a certificate, which you can save.
To complete your training, simply visit Safeguarding Training.
Thank you for leading the way in caring for our children and young people safe so that they can focus on living bright lives with positive futures.
