PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
We are quickly approaching the end of another very successful school year here at Exeter High School. I look forward to our upcoming Year 10 Graduation Assembly and dinner, where we celebrate the achievements of our current Year 10 cohort. A massive thank you to the Year 10 team and other staff members who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure these events are the success they always are. Our end-of-year assembly yesterday was also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the successes of our students across areas such as academic and sporting pursuits. We certainly have a lot to celebrate here.
Our redevelopment has gone through the tender process, and I hope, in the coming weeks, to be able to announce the building company that will be transforming our school into a 21st Century Learning Space. We hope to have the first stages of the redevelopment underway in the first half of next year.
End of year reports are currently being completed and collated. Please read the information in this newsletter re dates that they will be sent home with students.
A reminder that we have our school pantry here, with food and other non-perishable items that are available for families to access. Christmas is a busy and expensive time of the year and I invite families to access these items. Please contact the administration team should you wish us to put together a hamper to be brought home by your child or collected at the office at a time convenient for you.
Mr Benjamin Frerk
Principal
END OF YEAR REPORTS
A reminder to families that end of year reports will be distributed on Wednesday December 13 for Grades 7-9 students and Friday December 15 for Grade 10 students.
The report will show your child’s learning achievement on a 9-point visual scale. The 9-point scale shows where your child’s learning achievement is against the expected standard for their year level.

AUSTRALIAN MARITIME COLLEGE EXCURSION
On Friday the 1st of December, 14 students from Year 9 went on an excursion to the Australian Maritime College. We spent the day doing activities that revolved around water and engineering. The first activity we did was engineering a bridge that could hold the most weight. The most weight one bridge held was around 23kg. The second thing we did was have a tour of the college and all its unique machines. We drove a ship simulator to learn how they work and how to navigate using a GPS. We ended the trip by doing realistic water survival scenarios. In the water survival scenarios, we did things like jump off a 4-metre platform into the water, swimming with a lifejacket and learning how to safely get into a survival raft. Overall, this was a positive experience for the students, and it helped us understand about boat safety and what to do in an emergency.
