PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
I am pleased to inform our school community that the tender process for the school’s redevelopment has commenced. This means that several building companies have visited our school site and will now undertake the task of quoting for the redevelopment work. As this process closes, I will continue to update everyone on the next steps. We are hoping that the redevelopment will be underway in Term 1 next year. This will be a hectic and busy time; however, I have full confidence that the disruptions to learning will be kept to a minimum as we already have plans in place for this period of time to ensure students are able to continue to learn in a settled and calm environment.
Our teacher staffing for next year remains unchanged, and this helps to ensure the continuity of the outstanding teaching and learning programs that we offer here at Exeter High School. Our teachers enjoy working here and as any organisation knows, a happy and fulfilled staff makes for positive outcomes for the organisation. I continue to be proud of the learning environments and the curriculum content that I witness each day as I visit classrooms. It is a credit to the whole school community that our school is the way it is.
Our school Athletics Carnival is quickly approaching, and students have been applying themselves in their Health and Physical Education lessons as they practise for the events that will be held. The carnival is on November 8th and 9th and families are invited to come along to Windsor Park to watch their children participate across the two days.
We would like to acknowledge the achievements of one of our Year 7 students at the recent All-School’s Athletics Competition: Cammi won a gold medal and set a new state record (11.38m) for U14 Triple Jump. Congratulations, Cammi.

SPACE AWARENESS SCHOOL & STV WINDEWARD BOUND ADVENTURE
On Saturday 30th of September to Sunday 1st of October, I attended the Space Awareness School at the Hive Planetarium in Ulverstone. I was one of 12 academically inclined students from around the state selected to attend this program, which was run by Dr Martin George, the Director of the Planetarium. During the weekend, I listened to many guest speakers from the Australian Space Agency and space agencies worldwide, attended two planetarium shows, and learned many valuable things about the aerospace engineering and astronomy fields. This experience was very eye-opening, and I am grateful for the opportunity.
From Thursday 5th till Sunday 15th of October, I was one of 10 Tasmanian leaders on the 11th voyage of the STV Windeward Bound for 2023. The voyage is a physically and mentally challenging 10-day trip on a sailboat, which in my case travelled from Devonport to Hobart. There are no mobile phones allowed, which effectively meant I had zero contact with the outside world for the 10 days I was aboard. I spent this time bonding with my fellow trainees, mentoring the 10 refugees and immigrants aboard, and learning the basics of sailing a tall ship. Though this experience was physically gruelling and pushed me to my very limits mentally, I truly emerged from the voyage having developed and grown as a person. For this voyage, I was also the recipient of the TANZ medallion. The Tall Ships Australia and New Zealand medallion is not awarded every voyage: it is only awarded in extraordinary circumstances wherein a sail trainee has shown extreme commitment, enthusiasm and, above all, growth on a sail voyage. I am only the second recipient of the medal this year, out of the eleven voyages conducted.
I would like to thank my teachers for always supporting my extracurricular endeavours.
